Its vineyards as well as its exquisite cheese are very well known throughout Greece. It’s a town in the Pindos Mountains and they say that its name comes from the words “meso” & “vouno” which means “located in the mountain”. The Tosizza family, well known for its political power and strength saved Metsovo from young locals migrating by encouraging local facilities. Several young cheese makers were sent to Italy for training purposes which helped the actual region to its revival. A variety of cheeses can be found such as “metsovone” influenced by the Italian cheese “provolone”, “graviera”, “parmesan” and so on. We will get to try cheese as well as buy any kind of souvenirs. We will also get to see where local wine is produced and walk around the aging caves (cellars). Whoever would like can also taste the two different wines as well as local cheese, served in a platter. An unforgettable experience!
